1.  How often do I wash my new hairpiece or full wig?

Wash your new human hair or synthetic hairpiece-toupee at least once a week, depending on your daily activities. Many people find it easier to have more than one hairpiece, not only to provide additional styles, but also to allow proper time for cleaning and drying.
Wash your full wig after wearing it 10-12 times.

2. Can my full wig be made bigger or smaller to better fit my head size?

Yes, all full wigs can be adjusted to fit your personal needs, by tightening or loosening the Velcro tabs, located in the back section of the full wig. Some Full wigs are made with a stretchy material, allowing them to fit your head snuggly without adjustment.

3. Will wearing a hairpiece or full wig ruin my existing hair?

Wearing a hairpiece (hair graft, toupee, unit) or a "full" wig will not damage your own hair!

4. What's the difference between the human hair and the synthetic fibers?

The "Synthetic" hairpieces are used primarily for daily wear. One advantage when using a "Synthetic" hairpiece, is that the color does not fade as much as the human hairpieces.

When purchasing a human hair-piece, you can style them as you would your normal hair, without the worry of it being ruined by any heat source. The Human hairpieces tend to last longer than the synthetic versions, and the main benefit to wearing a "human" hairpiece is that you may use your human hairpiece for an extended period of time.

5. Can I wear my (synthetic version) full wig or hairpiece-toupee while cooking and using the oven?

When cooking, please be sure not to open the oven while wearing your full synthetic wig or synthetic hairpiece-toupee. Also, try not to expose the synthetic full wig or hairpiece to any other heat source, such as a blow dryer, curling iron, clothes dryer, opening the hood of a car, etc.

6. I want to achieve the most natural look possible, how do I cut and style my new hairpiece?

To achieve the most natural looking hairpiece possible, we highly suggest that you take your new hairpiece to a local hairdresser that has experience in the hair restoration industry. If you do not know of anyone in your local area, you are more than welcome to fly down to Florida and have one of our highly experienced staff members provide you with a custom fit, precision cut and styled hairpiece designed to your individual specifications.

We have people fly in from all over the world to have our professional staff members customize their hairpieces to your individual needs. Appointments are required!

All flights should arrive into our three convenient South Florida airports: Fort Lauderdale (20 minute drive to salon), Miami (45 minute drive to salon), or West Palm Beach (30 minute drive to salon). We are located at:

7. How do I clean my new hairpiece or full wig?

First, gently pick or comb your wig out thoroughly before washing it. Then, wet synthetic hairpieces and full wigs completely with cold water, work shampoo in and leave in for 5 minutes. Then, rinse it out with cold water and thoroughly blot dry with a towel. Follow with conditioner; leave it in for 5 minutes, rinse and towel dry. Leave the hairpieces or full wig on a towel or wig stand to dry overnight at room temperature. Important...Do not comb or brush your full wig or hairpiece-toupee when it is wet! When it is completely dry, simply brush into your desired style.

8. How long do these hairpieces last?

That all depends on the individual person; i.e., which activities he takes part in, what type of career he has, how well he cares for the hairpiece itself, etc.

 9. How do I wash and care for my new human hairpiece?

Soak your human hairpiece in a mixture of mild shampoo and conditioner; use Luke warm water only. Squeeze the shampoo/conditioner through the hair from top to bottom. Rinse with warm water. Gently blot hair with a towel. Comb wet hair from the bottom to the top using gentle downward strokes, one section at a time. Never begin combing at the top or middle, and always comb down. Follow with a protein conditioner that has sunscreen in it to prevent fading.

Important!
Allow hairpieces or full wig to dry naturally! To restyle your human hairpiece or Human full wig, you may use a blow dryer on a low, cool setting.

10. Can I use regular mousse with my new wig?

You can use regular mousse daily on synthetic and human hairpieces and full wigs for extra body and to create a more natural look and feel.

11. Can I send in a hair sample for you to match my color?

Yes, Lori's Wigsite will be happy to help you select the right color by matching your hair sample to the closest available wig/hairpiece color. For complete instructions, please see our Customer Service page.

12. What are the differences between the bonding products?

(We recommend "not" using any of the below Bonding agents on the synthetic hairpieces-toupees. Use the blue-liner tape combined with the red-liner tape instead.)

~Hard bond, is applied directly to the red liner tape, on the perimeter of the base. (Never apply this product directly onto the scalp.) You must have at least an 1/8" of hair. We recommend that you wait 24 hours before applying water or shampooing. Remember this is for extended wear, it generally lasts between 3-4 weeks. (No solvent will remove this type of bond.)

~Full head & Lace bond: the scalp must be totally clean, either clipped or shaved and dry of all oil residue. Swab the scalp with 99% isopropyl alcohol before applying and let dry. This bond usually lasts 2-3 weeks. Use the "touch-up" bond on the frontal section, if it starts to lift. Use the "amber super solvent" product to remove this bond.  Do not shampoo or expose to water for 24 hours.

~Touch-Up Bond: use this touch-up bond in conjunction with the full head bonding agent mentioned (above). This product is great to touch-up any lifting spots.

~Soft bond is the most popular bond. It's a silicone base adhesive. It must be used with tape, and can be placed directly on the skin or with slight hair stubble. We recommend that you wait 24 hours before shampooing or exposure to water. This bond should last between 2-3 weeks. A second coat placed on the redliner tape is recommend for a longer period of use, (use a dryer on cold setting before applying.)

~Amber Super Solvent: is used to loosen full head and hard bonding. Because it contains a citrus oil, it's best to use a clarifying shampoo afterwards to remove some of the oil residue, then swap the scalp with 99% isopropyl alcohol to dry the area.

*Warning, all bonds should be "skin tested" behind the ear, for 24 hours before applying.

13. What are the differences between the tape adhesive products?

(Important... Never use double sided tape on any full wigs or hairpiece-toupee's that have the lace fronts. (Except for the lace-liner tape). Or instead use the full head/Lace front bonding agent, mentioned above).

We carry thee different types of double sided tape adhesives. They come in different colors- which represent their strength. Once you remove the backing, most are clear in color (except for the brown-liner).

The double sided tape comes in three different forms, the first is the 1" tabs, second is the "B" contour tabs, third is in the form of a roll, which you cut to the desired length off of the roll, according to what size you need. (This is the best value for the money.)

~ Blue-liner, is the strongest, it's intended for weekly or extended wear. For extra security, and ease of removing this product from the hairpiece-toupee or full wig, we highly recommend placing the redliner tape onto the actual hairpiece, then lay the blue liner tape over the redliner tape. This method can last up to 2 weeks.

~Red-liner tape: is the most popular and is used mainly for daily wear. It's also used in conjunction with the blueliner, as stated above. This application will enhance the strength and length of use. (The amount of time, all depends on the users activities).

~Lace Tape Tabs
A transparent tape, made especially for lace front units.

~Brown-liner, is for daily wear. It's great for those who perspire more often. This tape is used by itself. This brown-liner is not clear.

~Super Solve", is intended to loosen all tape adhesives. It's gentle enough to use on delicate lace front pieces as well. It's a must for those who use the Blueliner tape as an extended wear. This product can be applied directly to the scalp as well, in order to remove tape adhesive build-up. Because this product contains a citrus oil, it's best to use a clarifying shampoo afterwards to remove some of the oil residue, then swap the scalp with 99% isopropyl alcohol to dry the area.

~Liquid tape/Liquid Dabber, is designed to enhance the durability of the front tape tabs. It's also great for touch up jobs.

~"No Tape", this new product comes in a tube, making it more convenient to use. It's like the soft bonding agent, accept the double sided tape is not required on the base. The application procedure is the same as the soft bond, used on the base and scalp.

14. What are your hours of operation?

We are available Monday - Thursday from 9 AM- 5 PM, Friday- 9 AM -1 PM

(Eastern Standard Time). Due to the wig manufacturers being closed on the weekends, Lori's Wigsite will be closed on Saturday and Sunday as well.

15. How do I apply the bonding agent?

WARNING: All bonds should be skin tested behind the ear, for 24 hours before using.
Prepare scalp, shake bottle well. Apply THIN LAYER with brush applicator to both scalp and hairpiece. For lace systems, only apply a thin layer to the scalp. Let dry 5-7 minutes. For extra hold, apply a 2nd coat 1” around perimeter of scalp and let dry 3-5 minutes. Then place hair system in position. Press out any bubbles etc. Do not wet head for 24 hrs. Proceed to style.

All orders received on Friday (after 12 PM) will be filled the following business day (Monday). All phone calls that are placed over the weekend will be returned on the following business day.

Thank you for complying. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you soon.
